WADERS AND WATERBIRDS
Common Snipe in the rain showing off its distinctive long bill, which is excellent for probing the mud for food.
Common Snipe standing on one leg to conserve body heat.
I was thrilled when I spotted this gorgeous Jack Snipe hiding in the reeds. It's bill is noticeably shorter and its far less flighty than the Common Snipe.
Oystercatcher.
They're usually hard to photograph up close as they're quite flightly. However, using the car as a hide, like I did here, alongside the shoreline, I was able to obtain this really lovely profile photo.
Snoozing Sandpiper.
I was driving along the shoreline on the Island of Mull and managed to take this photo of a Common Sandpiper resting on a rock. It looks so peaceful.
