SKIING
I love how the snow transforms the landscape in winter, so it's great to take a little time out on my skiing holidays to capture the beauty of the mountains.
Both this and the next photo were taken on my phone inside a bubble lift near the resort of Lech. I like the fact you can see the shadow of another bubble in the snow.
I think there's something very calming about seeing an undisturbed blanket of snow on the ground.

A great place to take a break from skiing. They even have deckchairs. Usually only in spring is it sometimes warm enough to shed any layers!
The Trail.
I stopped to take a photo of the sun just before it disappeared behind the mountains and framed the shot to include the stationary skiers on the piste. I love how there's a trail of sun spots directing you to them.
Lech is very picturesque with the Lech River running alongside the main street (a tributary of the Danube). In the background the church of St Nicholas captures the eye with it's onion shaped spire. It's thought to have been built around 1390.
The Vallugabahn II in St Anton am Arlberg was built in 1955 and at the time was the highest cable car in Austria. There are great views from the top including the photo at the top of this page.
The Rosanna River near St Anton.
I love this photo! It was late on a cloudy day when suddenly, the sun shone through a gap in the clouds and lit up this peak.
